Halloween Festivities

So I have been meaning to do this post for a long time but always seem to find something or someone else demanding more of my time.  But this week is fairly quiet for daycare so I am going to finish this post and hopefully get another one done too.

Growing up I remember celebrating Halloween one day out of the year on Oct. 31.  Well either times are changing or because we are now living in a bigger town we seem to celebrate Halloween for most of the month of October.  The kids get great use out of their costumes at least. :)
These pictures are in no particular order, but I started out with pictures from the daycare party.  We didn't do too much since the babies are on their own schedules and the parents all have different schedules, but mostly because it snuck up on me and I didn't have much time to plan a big party.

The kids all wore their costumes and kept them on for most of the day.  They were so cute!
We made sugar cookies and then they got to frost their own for snack.

I caught a lion trying to play in the sink. :)  I love his mane.

Cute picture of them both.

Someone likes to lick the bowl out.  I wonder who she got that from?!

Conner blowing kissings after eating his cookie.

Frosting her frankenstien.  And yes she is wearing her leotard.  We had our party on Thurs and she likes to change into after nap so she's already for gymnastics.

She got to wear her costume to gymnastics as well.  Here she is with her friends Hayden and Mariah.

Friday late afternoon there was trick or treating and a parade down in Aggieville.  Here Kaylee is with Hayden waiting for the parade to start.

Conner getting a good view of the parade.

I purposely left some cookies unfrosted so that they could frost some on the actual day of Halloween.  Conner was more into eating the cookie than frosting it.

Looking at their new Halloween books before breakdfast.

We have started letting Conner only have his pacy while he is in his crib so when he sneaks one out he makes sure to hold on to it tight.  I think he had another one in is other hand underneath the tray!

Trick or treating with neighbor friends, Lesley and Wyatt.

She did good going up to the houses with her friends with out me, but after she went to this house (the scary one as she puts it) I had to go up to the doors with her.  This house was pretty scaring and we didn't realize it until they were already up there.

Showing off her loot after trick or treating.  She made out really well!

Now that I'm done I realize I didn't upload pictures from when they trick or treated at the zoo the weekend before.  I'll try to post them later.

New rooms (finally)

One of the few drawbacks of not finding out the sex of a baby before he/she is born is that you aren't able to prepare the nursery beforehand.  After the baby is born it is really hard to find a free moment, let alone, to try to find a free weekend where you can devote it to painting and decorating a room.  But we finally have Conner's room done, well almost.  I still have one little project that I want to finish, but hopefully this weekend I will get it done.  So here are the pictures......

The stripes at the top were by far the most time consuming to do.  Unfortunately Luckily, I have a husband who is detail oriented and therefore did most of the taping for the stripes.

I hand painted the animals on the wall.

The project that I have left to do involves the letters above his crib.  I bought some scrapbook paper that I am going to glue on so that they will match the bedding theme.

This week Kaylee also got to move into her big, big girl bed.  (She called her toddler bed her big girl bed, so she thought that this bed should be her big, big girl bed.)  We had to move out all of the furniture from the rooms that were carpeted last week, so we took this great opportunity to get this bed set up.  This bed was actually my bed from when I was growing up.

Kaylee got to pick out the bedding for her new bed, but we will wait for her birthday next year to re-paint her room.  She is also wearing her leotard (a post will come later about gymnastics and hopefully a video) that she wore almost the whole day. :)

Pumpkin Patch Fun

Yay, I finally figured out the picture thing!  But on to my post....On Oct. 1 the daycare took a trip to a local pumpkin patch for our first field trip.  Luckily all the parents were able to go otherwise it wouldn't have worked out.  All the kids did so well and had so much fun!

First the kids got to act out a story about how to grow pumpkins.

All the daycare friends on the hayrack ride.  I find it a challenge to get two kids to take a good picture.  Trying to get six kids = impossible!

Conner's Birthday Party Prt. 2

I'm still not able to view the photos until I post this, so I will just write about everything and then post the pictures after. Conner had his official birthday party the Saturday before his birthday. His Grammy and Papa, uncles Corey and Travis, Travis' friend Steph, and Great Aunt Mary all made the trip down. Friends Chris and Christine and their two kids also came for the party. The kids all played for awhile while we waited for my brothers to find our way to the house. (They took a wrong turn) :) Then we sang Happy Birthday and had cake and homemade icecream. Conner loves his sweets!! Next we opened presents and he got so many wonderful gifts. We have been having fun playing with them and now we officially have "boy" toys in the house. He also got a bumble bee car (didn't come with a steering wheel, so we had to call them) that he likes cruising around the house in. After the party we went to the hotel that some of my family was staying at and the kids and Steve went swimming. Sunday we celebrated Mary's birthday before everyone had to take off for home.

Conner turns 1! Prt. 1

I can't see the pictures while I am writing this, but I can see them when I preview, so I am just going to write everything before the picures and hopefully the issue will be resolved before the next post. Conner got to have three birthday parties for his first birthday; one over Labor Day weekend, one on the 18th, and one on his actual birthday on the 22nd. This post is about his party over Labor Day weekend when we actually celebrated three birthdays - Conner's, Grandpa's, and Steve's. Grammy and Grandpa came down on Saturday. The first order of business was to put together Conner's new car. I don't know if Conner was more excited about holding (sucking on) the screwdriver or getting a ride in his car. The car has a floor in it so his feet wouldn't drag while getting pushed. This week though Conner is able to use his own feet to drive the car, although it is only backwards. He also likes to get behind it and push it around the yard. On Sunday we all went to the zoo to see the new 2 week old baby chimp that made national news because the mom is 56 (or 80 years old in human years)! They had some feeding demonstrations of different animals so the kids got to see the chimps, monkeys, and sea otters eat. The highlight for Kaylee, as always, was feeding the ducks and goats. Conner preferred to look at the goats from a ways back. Sunday night we had a supper to celebrate all the birthdays with ribs on the grill and cake. The Boggs family came over also for supper and to visit. Conner got his first taste of cake and loved it! Even tried licking (eating?) the plate.
