Dairy Farm Tour

A couple weekends ago a local dairy farm had an open house.  We decided to take the kids over there for something different to do and for them to see all the cows.  The gave us a little tour of their milking facility, the cows, and the baby calves.  Conner loved pointing to the cows and saying "moo".  Kaylee got to make butter by shaking cream in a baby food jar.  The first jar dropped on the floor and she got very upset.  But the ladies gave her a new one to shake.  We had to shake it for about a half hour to make butter!  We also got to taste three different kinds of milk, cheese, and ice cream that the farm makes themselves.  All in all it was a fun morning doing something out of the ordinary.

In the car on the way there.

They also had a huge hay bale pile for the kids to climb on.  Kaylee had fun, but Conner didn't care for touching the itchy hay!

Watching a cartoon after a long, long day of fun with no naps!

After the dairy farm tour we had Sadie's 1st birthday party to attend.  Steve and I were hoping the kids would sleep in the car on the way there since it was about a 45 minute drive from the farm to the bday party.  But since neither of our kids sleep in the car, naps didn't happen that day.  Needless to say they went to bed early that night, but they both did really well and there were no major meltdowns!

Conner's new obsessions

I am working on a post all about Kaylee's gymnastics but it is a big task going through all those pictures.  I am also trying to learn how to upload and edit videos so I can include some of them on here.

This past weekend we were once again struck by some sort of stomach bug.  Our family usually doesn't get sick, but it's been twice this year already, and with them same thing!  Both kids woke up about 1 a.m. and each of them threw up with a couple minutes of each other.  We cleaned them both up and put them in bed with me.  I told Steve to sleep on the couch since he was leaving for Chicago that morning.  I was up about every half hour with them.  One would get up and I would get them all cleaned up and back into bed, lay down, and then the other one would get sick.  It was an all night thing.  Conner didn't get sick anymore past 6, but didn't have an appetite until Sunday.  Kaylee was sick all day Friday and just wanted me "to make it better". :(  The last time she got sick was right before bed on Friday, and after that I could tell she was much more comfortable.  She slept through the night and was much better Saturday.  I also got the upset stomach and it took me until Sunday morning to feel better.  Steve feels so bad that he was gone and couldn't take care of us, but I told him that he can help by letting me sleep in this weekend. :)

On to the post....Conner hasn't been into books nearly as much as Kaylee was as an infant/toddler.  But that is probably because we don't have nearly as much time to sit down with just him and read as we did with Kaylee.  But lately he has been so into books, that he will go into his room or to the book shelf and grab a book and bring it to us and say, "book".  We will also catch him just lying on his tummy flipping through a book.  It's so cute to watch his little legs swinging away as he is "reading" his book.  He is particularly obsessed with this song book that I got at a garage sale.  We read it so many times in a row yesterday that I hid it under the couch so he would get a different one. :)  (I did get it back out for him later.)

Here he is doing the "Where is Thumbkin" fingerplay that is one of the songs in the book.

Lying on his tummy "reading" the "Itsy, Bitsy Spider" that is also in the book.

He is also loving giving kisses and...

hugs!

Another thing that Conner enjoys is helping to clean.  Here he is vacuuming with daddy.  He will also help by throwing garabage or crumbs away that he finds on the floor, and wiping up his spills (or anything he can find on the floor to wipe).

These are pictures of Conner's leaking blood vessels.  It looks aweful, but he doesn't even know it's on his leg.  We took him to a peds dr. and the dr. wasn't sure what it was, but said to just watch it.  His pediatrician also looked at it and was also confused by what it could be.  He ordered an urine test to make sure that there was no blood in his urine, but also told us to just watch it and if it changed or his stools had blood in them to come back so they could run more tests.  We also saw a dermatologist because we needed to know what was happening.  The dermatologist knew right away because just the week before they had another little boy there with the same thing.  They didn't know what it was when the other boy came in so they ran tests on that boy and found out his blood vessels were leaking, so that's how they knew what Conner had.  They said that it should take care of iteslf.  It's still looks about the same, only a little lighter.  He's had it for about 3 weeks now.

What we did this weekend....

This past weekend was gorgeous here, 80-90 degrees all weekend!  On Saturday Kaylee had a fancy tea party 3rd Birthday party for her friend Ellie.  It was quite the birthday party, and we had wear dresses and Kaylee got to bring EI with.
Here EI is all dressed and ready for the party.  When Kaylee got up in the morning one of the first things she did was get EI dressed.
Here are Adah and her mom, Christine

Three friends!
After the girls played dress up awhile it was time to sit down and have some tea and sandwiches.  At the table the girls also got to wear gloves and hats.  Some threw the hats on the floor, others didn't wear the gloves, but Kaylee wore both for most of lunch time.
Kaylee and Adah
K loved pouring and drinking her lemonade

Don't they look like they were caught doing something?

They had a pretty good sized trampoline in there basement, which Kaylee loved!

                                     Opening gifts

This little girl loved the kitties, and decided that she would just lie on top of them.  They didn't mind one bit!!

Conner's curly hair after sweating during nap. :)  He needs a hair cut!

We found some writing on Kaylee's closet door.  When I asked her why she wrote on her door, she replied, "I measured my dolls to see how tall they are.  Here is Rusty, here's George, here's rabbit, and here's EI."  How can I be mad at her for that.  She's just doing what we do when we measure her and Conner.  Only I explained that she needs to write it on some paper and not on the walls or doors.

Playing in the sand/water table.  It was 90 degrees on Sunday!

Love, love, love this picture!

Kaylee LOVED pouring her lemonade tea and drinking from the itty bitty teacup.

After the party Kaylee posed with me.

Here is the birthday girl!

I have been working on this post since Monday, but it was being really fussy and not cooperating with me.  That's why all the pictures are messed up and not in the right order, but I've had ENOUGH of messing around with it and trying to fix it.  So this is what you get with this post.  I need to learn how to upload a better post!  After the birthday party on Saturday, Kaylee and I ran some errands, played computer games at the library, and went shopping at Target.  It was a really fun girl's day out!!!

Conner 18 months

May '10 - 8 months                      Sept '10 - 1 year                  March '11 - 18 months

Hard to believe our little C is 18 months old already!  This age is so much fun!!!  We are constantly amazed at how much he is changing and learning on a daily basis.  He still loves to cuddle, which I love, since Kaylee was not much of a cuddler.  He is our little eater too.  One mention of some type of food and he is chasing down whoever said it or running to the little table and sitting down waiting for some. :)  He is, however, pickier than Kaylee was at this age.  He doesn't like any type of vegtable so much, but will chow down on any type of fruit or carb.  Where Kaylee prefers her noodles without sauce, Conner will not eat them unless they do have a sauce on them.  Some of his milestones are:

     * Can point to his eyes, ears, nose, mouth, hair, tummy, and fingers when asked.
     * Knows the animal sounds for a cow, monkey, horse, sheep, kitty, doggy, and       duck.
     * Is starting to do actions to some of the songs we sing, especially, "This Old Man" and "Peanut Butter and Jelly"
     * Loves to blow kisses
     * Says "thank you" after be given something he wanted.
     * Was a huge daddy's boy, but is turning into a mommy's boy.
     *  Says, daddy, mommy, kk, monkey, thank you, buh (bye), maddie, Sadie, Kenley, muh (more), peace (please), milk
     *  Tries to jump but doesn't quite get both feet off the ground, but so cute to watch.
     *  Loves to do stuff to get us to laugh at him or what he is doing.  And then he will do it over, and over, and over.
     *  Loves to wrestle and knock people down.  The little ones don't like it though! :)

Little C is such a huge joy to our family and we are loving every minute!  We love you Conner with our whole heart!

Valentine's Day

Could they get any cuter!  Love these kids!

Kaylee's heart she made at Sunday School.

Kaylee opening her gifts.

Conner not feeling good at all.

Her favorite gift - a light up toothbrush, since "Santa" didn't get her letter about wanting a new toothbrush. :)

Heart shaped cake, decorated with sprinkles by Kaylee, for dessert.

Her new skirtis a little too big.
She is showing us how when she jumps it just falls down. :)

Kaylee was sick the three days before Valentine's Day and Conner was sick the day of and two days after, and I was sick the day after.  Daycare was closed for two days so we had our daycare Valentine's Day party on the 16th.  We took the picture of the two of the together on Sunday when they were both feeling pretty good, otherwise we wouldn't of gotten one!
